While you are wearing OV-Watch, it takes a reading every 30 minutes up to 12 readings per 24 hours period. That data is used to properly determine your individual fertile window. Having intercourse during the fertile window that OV-Watch provides doubles your probability of conception as compared to LH testing.
OV-Watch's fertility prediction is predicated on advanced technology but established science. References related to chloride ion changes during a woman's menstrual cycle have been in medical literature dating back to the 1960's.  However, until OV-Watch’s advanced and patented technology was developed, the science of Cl ion surges during a woman’s menstrual cycle could not be utilized to predict ovulation. OV-Watch is the first fertility predictor on the market that has the advanced technology (patented biosensor and microprocessor) to measure sweat ion changes on the skin and accurately predict not only ovulation, but the most fertile days of the cycle including the day of ovulation.

The clinical trials for our FDA 510K medical device clearance, conducted at Duke University and Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia, compared OV-Watch to the LH urine kits (since that was the only predicate device). The trial results concluded that OV-Watch is equivalent in predicting ovulation; however, this was only part of the results. Additionally, OV-Watch was shown to "provide the user with notice up to four days before ovulation during which the user may have the greatest chance of becoming pregnant".

That is why the cumulative conception rate is almost double with OV-Watch. To put it simply, 66% more pregnancies are estimated to occur by month 6 with OV-Watch over LH kits.
