Why do I have to enter in my approximate cycle length the first month?
Throughout your cycle, there are several surges of chloride ions related to hormonal changes during your cycle. See the surge graph in the quick start guide that came with your OV-Watch. The chloride ion surge that OV-Watch is looking for to determine your individual fertile window, comes about 6 days before ovulation. In a 28 day cycle, it is the first surge of Chloride ion that the watch is detecting. On a cycle that is longer than 29 days, it is the second or third surge that indicates 6 days before ovulation. By entering in your approximate cycle length, you are helping the watch to determine which surge to look for to accurately determine your individual fertile window.
