   SUCCESS STORIES

Cindy B

we had been trying to get pregnant for the past two years. Since this would be my last time to become pregnant (I'm 38 now), I decided to try the OV watch since the second time around was much harder than the first. After using the OV watch for about 6 cycles, I became pregnant. Thank you OV watch for helping me predict my fertile days!

Christa

We tried for 3 years to conceive without success. My friends purchased this watch for me as a Christmas gift in 2006- I had already started my cycle that month- so I started in January using the watch. Well- in April we conceived... IT WORKED!!! I took the pregnancy test on May 21, 2007- positive!!! Our daughter was born January 20, 2008. I swear by this product! I had tried fertility meds, urinating on sticks, a saliva test to predict ovulation, charting temperatures... you name it- NOTHING worked until this! I now have 2 other friends using the watch- hoping for success like we had! I told my OB/GYN about this product- I have no doubt that it is the reason for our success!!! Thank you OVWATCH!!!

   ASK US

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years. I ordered the OV-Watch in October and have been using the OV-Watch every month. I didn't conceive in the 3 months so I was sent the 3 free sensors because of the promotion they had. My husband & I have had intercourse on the fertile days not the Ovulation days. It was my understanding to have intercourse on the fertile days before ovulation would occur. Tonight I was reading different websites and a lot of them said to have intercourse on the Ovulation day and even after. I guess I must have misunderstood or overlooked this information. I will be starting to use my OV-Watch again this month. I'm thinking I should have intercourse on the Ovulation days since the fertile days haven't worked out for us. I just wanted to get your opinion. Thanks!

Paula

Paula,

I am sorry that you have had difficulty conceiving and I am sure your frustration grows with each passing month. However, you are absolutely right that intercourse before ovulation is crucial. In fact, one of the authors of a landmark study on ovulation detection and pregnancy stated, "intercourse on the day of ovulation may be sufficiently late to preclude pregnancy". The advantage of the OVWatch is that it gives the maximum advance notice to allow couples ample time for intercourse before ovulation. Although the majority of pregnancies occur when intercourse occurs in the 48 - 72 hours prior to ovulation, pregnancies can occur when sexual relations are 5 or 6 days in advance of ovulation. The advance notice also allows couples to fit their "efforts" to get pregnant in often busy schedules. I should also add that there is no "magic" frequency of intercourse. Daily, every other day or even just once in the fertility window PRIOR to ovulation is the key. Finally, patience is important. In an ideal setting (young and fertile) most couples will conceive within 6 - 9 months but even fertility treatments such as (clomid) clomiphene citrate can increase pregnancies rates of only 10% or less. However, women over 35, those who don't ovulate, have irregular cycles or have signs of other issues (pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction in the male) and those who aren't successful with timed intercourse should seek care from a women's health care or fertility specialist.

Best of luck to you.

Dr. Bates
